Program Requirements: High School Graduate or GED – Must be verified or received within one year. Participants must also submit to pre-employment drug testing as required by Housing Authority Personnel Policy. Students must be at least 18 years old.

Employment Skills Certification – $.25 raise
Life Skills Certification - $.25 raise
Blueprint Reading Certification - $.25 raise
1000 hours documented in On-The-Job Training - $.25 raise

When: Initial training begins June 13, 2005. Enrollment in the self-paced training program takes place on a rolling basis. The program allows for participation of 8 students at a time. When a participant graduates from the program, or resigns for any reason, their position is filled by the next eligible applicant. You may pick up or drop off an application at the Elmwood Court office between 8:00 AM and 5:30 PM Monday - Thursday and between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM on Friday.

Who: The program targets residents of the Housing Authority of Paducah. However, it is open to anyone in the community who wishes to pursue a career with the Painter’s Union.

Where: The students, under the leadership of a Journeyman Painter trainer, learn their craft in the apartments at the Housing Authority. The students help the Housing Authority with its routine painting of 868 apartments and multiple common buildings.
